FIELD: seismic prospecting, search for oil and gas fields. SUBSTANCE: seismic studies are conducted by groups of sources and geophones which number is not less than square value of ratio of error of single measurement of visible period to its increment caused by dying down of seismic wave in porous collector. Siesmograms are processed, value of porosity is found by increment of decrement of dying down of lateral waves which is assumed to be equal to ratio of increment of visible period of probing signal to time interval during which this increment took place. Material composition of pore filler is judged by difference of decrements of dying down of longitudinal and lateral waves determined by increase of visible periods of longitudinal and lateral waves.
