FIELD: medical engineering. SUBSTANCE: clockwise rotation of first link of hinge causes tangential force depending on presence of force created by stretched flexible member force which produces torque rotating the wedge counter-clockwise. As a result, drum slips over wedge. When drum of first link of hinge attempts to turn counter-clockwise, hinge is wedged due to Friction forces, and rotation of hinge first link relative to second link becomes impossible. If load wedging the hinge is not available, action line of force of stretched flexible member passes to the left of wedge axis and turns wedge counter-clockwise till contact of drum with second contact surface of wedge is obtained. Thus direction of hinge wedging is reversed. Hinge rotates counter clockwise easily and wedges as soon as its first link attempts to rotate clockwise relative to second link. EFFECT: stepless single-sided wedging of hinge and its easy unwedging. 1 dwg
