FIELD: ferrous metallurgy; may be used in steel ladle treatment with powdery reagents. SUBSTANCE: steel is deoxidized and calcium-containing materials are introduced into steel casting ladle. Prior to production of calcium-containing materials, contents of aluminum and carbon in steel are measured. Consumption of calcium-containing materials is determined in terms of assimilated calcium by metal from relation [Ca]=(0.14-0.18)Al, %, with carbon content up to 0.17%, or from relation [Ca]=(0.10-0.14)Al, %, with carbon content over 0.17%, where [Ca] is content of calcium dissolved in steel, %. Calcium-containing materials may be used in the form of silicocalcium and introduced into ladle in the form of powder wire. EFFECT: prevention of fouling of casting nozzle in production of casting block by continuous casting and optimization of calcium consumption. 3 cl
