FIELD: seismology, prediction of earthquakes. SUBSTANCE: earthquake monitoring method includes recording of seismic waves corresponding to seismic events of certain classes, determination of parameter S(σ)mk

= NklnN/Nk, where Nk is number of seismic events of specific energy class k; N is total number of observed seismic events and plotting of time series of parameter S(σ)mk
for chosen time interval of observation. Seismic center is determined in advance as area of enhanced seismic activity, recording of seismic events is carried out by corresponding energy classes in discrete points of seismic center. Vibrations of rocks are measured in this area in range of acoustical frequencies, velocity of flow of fluids and variations of fluid pressure are also measured. In agreement with plotted time series of parameter S(σ)mk
areas with decreased values exposed on basic recorded energy levels are indicated, change of amplitude level of vibration signal and value of velocity of flow of fluids and fluid pressure are analyzed within time intervals in exposed areas. Joint indication of anomalous increase of amplitude of vibration signal, velocity of flow of fluids and fluid pressure are assumed as short-time forerunner of earthquake.
