FIELD: seismology.
SUBSTANCE: used to determine the preparation of a strong seismic event. Using broadband seismic stations located within the local area of the seismically active zone, low-frequency microseismic oscillations are monitored. Conduct spectral and temporal and polarization analyzes of the recorded signal. By increasing the signal level and changing the polarization of oscillations in the spectral window of 0.01-1 Hz, a conclusion is made about the onset of a strong seismic event and its position.
EFFECT: determination of the onset of a strong seismic event over a period from several days to several hours.
