FIELD: gas treatment. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to purifying gases from harmful impurities and may be, in particular, utilized to remove carbon monoxide in collective and individual respiratory organs- protection systems and industrial releases, to treat internal combustion engine exhausted gases, and for solving other industrial and nature-protection tasks. Catalyst is prepared by mixing manganese dioxide and copper oxide with bentonite clay (binding agent), adding potassium permanganate in quantity 1-10 wt % in the form of aqueous solution, granulation, drying, crushing, and heat treatment. EFFECT: essentially increased catalytic activity. 1 tbl
