FIELD: petroleum refining and petrochemistry. SUBSTANCE: polyalkylene glycol polycarbonate is essentially compound of general formula: where in R1 is C1-C18-alkyl or C2-C13 hydrocarbon group which contains ether group, and n is 1-12. Polyalkylene glycol polycarbonate is prepared by reacting polyol of general formula: wherein n is 1-12 with carbonate of general formula: R1-OCOO-R1 wherein R1 is as defined above at 55-180 C for 7-20 hours in the presence of sodium methoxide catalyst. Polyol to carbonate to main catalyst ratio is 1: (21.3-25.8): 0.001 respectively. Process is carried out by distillation of alcohol resulting from synthesis to attain conversion of at least 95% original components and catalyst and unreacted carbonate are subsequently remove, Polyalkylene glycol polycarbonate is used as lubricating oil for refrigerators. Lubricating oil includes fluorocarbon that does not destruct ozone layer. EFFECT: improved properties of the title compound. 7 cl, 1 tbl
