METHOD FOR HAULING LONG-SIZE TIMBER IN FULLY LOADED POSITION Russian patent published in 1998 - IPC

FIELD: logging industry. SUBSTANCE: this relates to hauling bunches of long-size timber (trees, full-length logs, half-logs). According to method, hauling facility 1 is brought to felling strip and oriented to end of bunch 6 for example to butt portion of timber. Bunch 6 is grabbed by power grip 4 in zone of section adjoining aforesaid butt end. By means of hauling facility 1 and power grip 4, bunch of timber is lifted and simultaneously moved in longitudinal direction towards supporting members 2, 3. Extreme of these members are installed in front and rear sides of hauling facility. Power grip 4 together with bunch of long-size timber is raised and moved above supporting members 2, 3 or supporting member 3, then it is lowered with simultaneous opening of power grip 4. Hauling facility 1 is moved oppositely to direction of aforesaid raising and lifting of bunch 6, that is towards other end. This ensures displacement (sliding) of timber bunch over longitudinal axis of hauling facility along its supporting member 3 until center of gravity of timber bunch occupies position in zone of supporting member 3. Moment of locating center of gravity of bunch on supporting member 3 coincides with moment of complete taking-off of top part of bunch 6 from ground surface of felling strip 5. Butt part of timber bunch at this moment under action of own weight is placed on supporting member 2. Transportation of timber bunch 6 when fully loaded on supporting members 2, 3 of hauling facility 1 is performed with power-forced clamping of bunch to supporting members 2, 3 for example by power grip 4. Clamping force can be adjusted depending on actual situation and travel dynamics of hauling facility. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 1 cl, 6 dwg
