FIELD: powder metallurgy; production of extremely hard wear-resistant materials, in particular, armor members. SUBSTANCE: composition contains, wt. -%: boron carbide, 80-99; titanium diboride, 0.6-12; titanium carbide, 0.4-8. Components are ground to 3-10 mcm, mixed and subjected to pressure sintering. Technical results: microhardness, 5100-6500 kgf/sq.mm; density after pressure sintering, 2.53-2.82 g/cu.cm; relative density, not less than 99%; bending strength, up to 28 kgf/sq.mm. Armor members with use of plates at least 7.5 mm thick, prepared from the offered material withstand shooting from the distance of 3.5 m of standard ammunition of 7.62 mm Kalashnikov submachine gun. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 1 dwg, 1 tbl
