FIELD: preparation of especially hard and wear resistant ceramic boron carbide-based materials of high strength. SUBSTANCE: method comprises mixing powders of boron carbide and eutectic additive comprising titanium carbide and titanium diboride, ratios of components being as follows, wt %; B4C, 50-99; TiB2, 0.6-30; TiC, 0.4-20, hot pressing at 1800-2100 C and specific pressing pressure of 200-300 kgf/sq.mm for 5-60 min. Powders of original components with ceramic body particle size of not greater than 10 mcm are used. Eutectic additive is prepared by self-propagating high-temperature synthesis, mechanical or thermal activation. Method makes it possible to simplify manufacture of material and retain high density thereof. Microhardness of B4C-TiB2-TiC material is 5100-6500 kgf/sq.mm relative density is 49% and bending strength is 21-28 kgf/sq.mm. EFFECT: improved properties of the material. 7 cl, 2 ex, 1 tbl
