FIELD: armaments and ammunition.
SUBSTANCE: protective armour barrier contains ceramic element and substrate enclosed in the lining. The ceramic element has residual stresses. The substrate material is selected on the condition not to exceed tension strength of the material under applied force of substrate pressing to the ceramic material considering curvature of the ceramic element or substrate. The substrate can be made single layer out of steel. The substrate can be made multi-layer, at that the back side is made out of steel, and other layers are made out of the material which density is below the same of the back side material. At kinetic energy of bullet ≤ 3.5 kJ number of the substrate layers is two, at the kinetic energy > 3.5 kJ the substrate contains over 2 layers. The lining is made out of material with strength σ ≥ 50 MPa, thickness 0.2-2.5 mm. The ceramic element is enclosed by lining. The ceramic layer and substrate are glued to each other under force applied to the substrate from side of its adjoining to the ceramic element. The substrate is installed on soft damping substrate.
EFFECT: increased protection properties of the protective armour barrier due to the substrate pressing to the armour element under force.
