FIELD: synthesis of monocrystals of diamonds. SUBSTANCE: invention refers to synthesis of monocrystals of diamonds including those with semiconductor properties. Reactor for realization of method has vessel 1 manufactured in the form of shell 2 with cover 3 and bottom 4, unit 13 to load burden, unit 16 to drain reaction products, unit 20 to heat burden, unit 27 to feed carbon-carrying (hydrocarbon), nitrogen-carrying and doping materials, unit 50 (atomizer) to inject water steam, heat exchanger 6 for cooling, unit 41 to fix monocrystal of diamond and branch pipe 14 to release gaseous reaction products with pressure control valve 15. Burden of specified composition is loaded to 2/3 of volume of vessel space. Burden is locally heated to temperature above 1500 C, hydrocarbon and if necessary doping materials are injected and are cooled with the aid of heat exchanged 6 to temperature 750- 1050 C with formation of convective circulation flows of heterogeneous medium in which synthesized monocrystals of diamonds are fixed under pressure 0.12- 16.0 MPa on combs 43 in cooled zone. Nitrogen or air or nitrogen-carrying low-molecular compounds as well elements of III and V groups may be injected into formed heterogeneous medium through units 20 or 27. Water steam may be injected into burden in central zone of reactor in the amount of 0.15-150.0% of summary present rate of hydrocarbons which improves quality of monocrystals of diamonds. On completion of process of synthesis of monocrystals of diamonds combs 43 are turned through 90 deg, monocrystals of diamonds are lowered into drain zone, pressure in reactor is reduced to normal one and monocrystals of diamonds are brought out of reactor through unit 16.
