FIELD: electronics; production of synthetic monocrystals at preset physical properties. SUBSTANCE: proposed method is based on decomposition of water-soluble compounds of carbon in aqueous solution of at least one acid or one base within range of pH of medium from 0 to 13 at temperature range of from 20 c to boiling point of solution. To facilitate decomposition of carbon compounds and consequently to increase rate of growth of diamonds, catalysts of decomposition process are introduced in aqueous solution. Soluble chemical agents containing diamond alloying components may be additionally introduced into aqueous solution. EFFECT: simplification of process; low cost of process; low level of defects in crystal lattice; possibility of producing diamonds of preset physical properties. 2 dwg, 1 tbl
