FIELD: heat treatment of metals and alloys, various branches of mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: proposed process of heat treatment of metal involves hardening of parts with subsequent tempering. In this case treatment zone is subjected simultaneously to action of magnetic and sound fields with intensity level 100.0-170.0 dB. Process is intended for branches of mechanical engineering where high reliability of heavily loaded parts is required. EFFECT: increased productivity of process, enhanced hardness, strength and hardenability of parts. 1 tbl
