FIELD: analytical methods. SUBSTANCE: method consists in successively adding to test sample solution of aromatic amine in bipolar aprotic solvent and hydrogen peroxide alkaline solution. According to invention, concentration of aromatic amine in solution is 2 ± 0.2%. Hydrogen peroxide solution is prepared by mixing 30 ± 1% hydrogen peroxide solution with 0.02 ± 0.001 N alkali at 1:1 volume ratio. Volume ratio of sample, aromatic amine solution, and alkaline hydrogen peroxide solution is 50:1:2. Optical density of colored solution is recorded at 430 ± 2 nm wavelength characterizing concentration of substance being determined. As aromatic amine, basically o-toluidine and, as aprotic solvent, acetone are used. EFFECT: improved analytical procedure. 4 tbl
