FIELD: fire-fighting equipment and technique. SUBSTANCE: the offered method and device for volume extinguishing of fire with aerosol generated in protected room during fire-extinguishing by burning of solid charge 2 in combustion chamber 1 having opening 7 through which aerosol flows out of chamber 1 to protected room. To increase stability of the process of aerosol generation and its flow outside, and to increase the rate of its flowing out, maintained in combustion chamber 1 in course of burning of charge 2 is pressure at which, at least, critical pressure differential between minimal cross-section of opening 7 of chamber 1 and ambient atmosphere is ensured. Said pressure in combustion chamber 1 is ensured by provision of opening 7 with its minimal cross-section area determined by relation offered by the invention description.
