SUBSTANCE: invention relates to producing zinc nitrate from zinc-containing wastes and may be of use when processing zinc- containing raw material, in particular, zinc dross - metallurgical production waste. Objective is achieved by preparing zinc nitrate solution from zinc dross and nitric acid, solution being supplemented by urea observing nitric acid to urea molar ratio 1:(0.02-0.05) which completely eliminates probability of formation of nitrogen oxides and their release into atmosphere. nitric acid is fed with velocity corresponding 120-200 kg of nitrate ions per 1 cu.m for 1 h. EFFECT: reduced cost due to use of waste and improved environmental condition.
