FIELD: electric communication. SUBSTANCE: in given communication system, specifically telephone system, subscribers may be connected telephone exchange by means of line. Ends 6 of line include bidirectional multiplexer or demiltiplexer 4, 4'. Connection to telephone exchanger may be realized through bidirectional mode circuit 5, 5' that modulates and demodulates data in accordance with chosen communication system. Bidirectional multiplexing or demultiplexing circuits 3, 3' to which subscribers are connected through bidirectional analog-to-digital converters 2 or commutation devices 11. 11' of telephone exchange through control circuits 2', 12, 13 are connected to multiplexers or demultiplexers 4, 4'. As alternative there may be provided that ends of line on side of telephone exchange and on side of subscriber may include one bidirectional mode circuit 5, 5' which modulates and demodulates data in agreement with envisaged communication system, bidirectional multiplexing or demultiplexing circuit 17, 17' may be connected to one mode circuit and bidirectional multiplexer or demultiplexer 18, 18' to which subscribers are connected through bidirectional analog-to-digital converters 2 or commutation device 11 or 11' of telephone exchanger through control circuits 2, 12, 13 may be connected to another modem circuit.
