FIELD: light polarizers. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to new materials for color dichroic polarizers based on organic dyes containing hydrophilic groups and consists in that, in material for polarizing coatings, as film- forming component, organic dyes are used selected from the cationic dye class or dyes containing polar groups, or their mixtures capable to form stable lyotropic liquid-crystal phases. Along with dyes, utilized also are surfactants and antioxidants. Material is composed of (in wt %): film-forming component, 5.0-30.0; antioxidants, 0.01- 1.0 and/or surfactants, 0.1-10.0; solvent, the balance. Polarizing coatings can be formed on any surface, both hydrophilic and hydrophobic. EFFECT: increased dichroic ratio in polarizer. 1 tbl
