FIELD: light polarizers. SUBSTANCE: dichroic light polarizer has polarizing layer built up of separate polarizing elements. Polarization axes of adjacent elements are at angles of 0 to 90 deg. relative to each other. Separate polarizing elements are, essentially, molecular-oriented layers formed of solutions of same or different organic dyes in lyotropic mesomorphic state. First polarizing layer may be covered with one or more additional polarizing layers each composed of separate polarizing elements. Polarizer manufacturing process involves coating substrate with organic dye solution in lyotropic mesomorphic state at the same time orienting it. In the course of coating, orienting action is applied at 0 to 90 deg. to direction of substrate movement. EFFECT: improved design, facilitated manufacture. 5 cl, 6 dwg
