FIELD: pulse engineering; simulation of heavy-power of lighting currents surge in various power systems; investigation of physical mechanisms of high-amplitude currents. SUBSTANCE: connected in parallel with equipment under test are N modules, their number depending on number of produced surges; modules have storage capacitors and controlled switches whose synchronous operation is ensured by series-connected control panel, multichannel delay unit, and trigger unit; to avoid asynchronous operation of modules, opaque partitions are installed between lighting arrestors; multichannel design of switches reduces erosion of electrodes. Two modules are built around Arkad'ev-Marx circuit one of which has explosive wire instead of loading resistor. EFFECT: improved simulation of actual conditions due to producing discharge current in equipment under test in the form of series of separate surges. 5 dwg, 1 tbl
