FIELD: surface treatment technology. SUBSTANCE: method relates to surface treatment of objects by high-concentration energy fluxes and is designed for strengthening knife edges of tools. Method involves irradiation of working tool surface by power ion beam with nanosecond duration. Energy flux density in the beam is chosen within the range 0.1 to 3 L/sq.cm at average energy of accelerated ions in the beam from $$$ to $$$ eV and current pulse length from 5 to 1000 ns.
