FIELD: medicinal microbiology. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to prognosis of disease caused by microorganisms Staphylococcus aureus or Escherichia coli. From pathological material sample pure pathogen culture is isolated followed by its identification and its capability to be inactivated by factors of natural antiinfectious resistance is determined. Activity of complement is determined by 50% hemolysis on agar plates in pathogen cultural fluid supernatant and in unsown nutrient medium. Then activity of complement is measured in hemolysis zone for each sample by the following formula: Y = 0.27 x Ln(X) + 1.02 $$$ where X - degree of absorption drop in hemolysis zone measured by densitometer with vertical beam way; Y - hemolysis degree; $$$ - activity of complement expressed in hemolytical units. Then the level of anticomplementary activity (anti-$$$) is calculated as a difference between complement activity in unsown nutrient medium and that in pathogen cultural fluid supernatant. At values of anticomplementary activity level for Escherichia coli 9 anti-$$$, or for Staphylococcus aureus 12 anti-$$$ unfavorable course of suppurative-inflammatory disease caused by the isolated pathogen is prognosed. EFFECT: simplicity, precision and information content of method. 4 tbl, 1 dwg
