PATELLA ENDOPROSTHESIS Russian patent published in 1998 - IPC

FIELD: medicine, traumatology, orthopedics. SUBSTANCE: intermediate plate is designed as a socket with a flange and cover plate where a spherical hinge is available designed together with a crankpin fixed with possibility to be disposable and substituted by a screw dowel in a socket of intermediate plate. For better fixation of intermediated plate upon an osseous fragment there are protrusions at a flange of intermediate plate. In case a patella is completely damaged and all ligaments are broken it is necessary to fix intermediate plate upon artificial ligaments along implanter of osseous fragment's surface. To achieve sufficiently good adaptation of mutually contacting surfaces of endoprosthesis of a knee joint and a patella a polymeric cover plate is designed to be spherical and it has an unlimited angle for rotation around longitudinal axis (an axis of a crankpin), as for an angle to rotate around axes it is limited by an angle of 4-6 deg. EFFECT: higher efficiency to prolong exploitation period of a device during interoperational period at simultaneous shortening the terms of endoprosthesis installation and substitution of a cover plate with spherical hinge and a crankpin. 2 dwg
