FIELD: space engineering; acceleration of spacecraft by means of flow of working medium escaping from its engines. SUBSTANCE: method consists in withdrawal of working medium from spacecraft by means of probe and positioning it along path of required acceleration of spacecraft in form of long track. Spacecraft directed along this track catches working medium by means of magnetic diffuser, after which working medium is directed to engine where it is burnt and escapes through nozzle, thus creating thrust. Probe may be made in form of drum on which track of working medium is wound; it is provided with control system and engine unit for removal of probe from spacecraft. EFFECT: reduced power requirements for acceleration of working medium which is necessary for acceleration of spacecraft. 3 cl, 1 dwg
