FIELD: refrigerating engineering; cooling, storage and transportation of perishable products and medical preparations. SUBSTANCE: portable cooler has heat insulated housing with cover and compartments for products, evaporator, condenser and thermosorption compressor. The latter has several adsorbers combined through controlled valves into self-contained units, each including hot and cold adsorbers connected by pipelines with condenser and evaporator. Shutoff and regulation valves are mounted on pipelines. Method of operation of portable cooler includes the following stages: precooling of space of housing accommodating the products, preparation of cooler for storing cooled products and cooling of housing space in transportation. Continuous circulation of cooling agent in closed circuit is provided. It includes delivery of high pressure cooling agent from hot adsorber of one unit, condensing of its vapors in condenser, throttling and boiling of cooling agent at low pressure with production of cold in evaporator, absorption of vapors of low pressure cooling agent in cold adsorber of the same unit. Then process repeats in other unit. Beginning and end of stages are provided by command for operating and closing of corresponding valves and for beginning and end of heating of corresponding adsorbers. In process of operation regeneration of heat between hot flow of high-pressure cooling agent getting from hot adsorber of one unit and attachment of adsorber of other unit heated at this moment takes place.
