FIELD: wood working and drying processes. SUBSTANCE: lumber of one grade is placed in horizontal rows with clearances between boards or bars smaller than quarter-wavelength (λ/4) of microwave radiation. Rows are placed one on top of other in stories with transverse spacers placed between them at distances also smaller than λ/4 so that adjacent stories are displaced relative to one another through λ/4 in direction of radiation. Then pile of lumber is irradiated with microwave beams on two opposite sides. During drying process, microwave beams are not reflected from pile and their entire energy is spent for heating the lumber. EFFECT: accelerated drying process. 2 cl
