FIELD: prospecting with the aid of magnetic facilities. SUBSTANCE: device has microwave generator. Generator output is connected to input of transmitting antenna with linear polarization of radiation. Device is also provided with receiving antenna the output of which is connected to indicator via detector, reference signal channel, phase inverter, phase detector, phase indicator, flat reflector and transport cart. Antennas are secured to transport cart so that their electrical axes cross on the earth surface. Transmitting antenna axis is inclined at Brewster angle, and receiving antenna axis is inclined at the same but negative angle. Polarizations of antenna radiations are within plane of incidence. Cart with antennas installed on it is moved along sections of earth surface under test, and reflected radio waves are received simultaneously. Then amplitude and relative phase of reflected radio waves are measured. Dimensions of detected object are judged by distance passed by cart within the time during which amplitude indicator shows identical values through maximum of indications, and by width of receiving antenna directional pattern. Depth at which object is positioned in earth is determined by value of relative phase of reflected waves with the aid of phase indicator calibrated by means of reflector. EFFECT: more reliable detection process. 5 cl, 8 dwg
