FIELD: mechanical engineering; helium arc welding of mean and hinge thickness titanium alloy workpieces by dipped electrode. SUBSTANCE: gas mixture consisting of plasma-forming and shielding gases is delivered through torch nozzle when lifting the electrodes into initial position at finishing stage of welding. EFFECT: improved quality of weld, removal of oxide layer from surface of electrode and weld is not required.
