FIELD: chemical technology. SUBSTANCE: method involves stages of thermic treatment of the parent acid and cooling a gas producing at thermic treatment stage. Thermic treatment is carried out by evaporation at 400-800 C with air excess and cooling is carried out to 360-450 C followed by catalytic oxidation of the cooled gas. Oxidized gas is cooled to 10-50 C above of sulfuric acid dew point in gas followed by condensation of sulfuric acid formed in cooled and oxidized gas. Oxidation is carried out on catalyst consisting of 1-5 wt.-% vanadium pentoxide and 2-20 wt.-% potassium and/or sodium pyrosulfate applied on silica. Catalyst can contain additionally 200-2 000 p. p. m. platinum and/or palladium applied on silica. Catalyst is used as monolith blocks exhibiting parallel channels at internal diameter 3-8 mm. EFFECT: improved method of regeneration. 4 cl, 1 dwg
