FIELD: artificial materials. SUBSTANCE: invention is intended for use in construction, mechanical engineering, power industry, and metallurgy. Hardening composition contains crushed slag from nonferrous metal production, fraction no more than 0.1 mm, and liquid alkali metal as alkali component. Slag may contain that from copper-smelting enterprises, and alkali metal may be sodium or eutectic sodium-potassium alloy, amount of alkali metal ranging from 10 to 35 wt %. Method of invention consists in crushing slag, adding alkali component, and heating resultant mixture to exothermic reaction point. When sodium is alkali component, mixture is heated to 200-240 C. EFFECT: improved resistance to corrosive media (aqueous mineral acids and alkalis) and resistance to high temperatures (up to 1500 C). 7 cl
