FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method for producing a molybdenum catalyst for the olefin epoxidation is carried out by dissolving metal powdered molybdenum at 30-50°C in wastewater with a peroxide concentration of 0.25-1.10 mol/l, wastewater is formed by the co-production of styrene and propylene oxide in the aqueous washing phase of ethylbenzene oxide. The method is characterised in that the dissolution of molybdenum is carried out in the presence of a 35% solution of hydrogen peroxide and ethyl alcohol at a weight ratio of wastewater: Mo 1:(0.05-0.3), respectively, and wastewater: hydrogen peroxide: ethyl alcohol 1:(0.1-1):(10.4-65.3), respectively.
EFFECT: simplification of the method, since no dehydration and further dissolution of the catalyst in the hydrocarbon medium before the olefin epoxidation process is required.
