FIELD: preparation of crystals. SUBSTANCE: present invention makes it possible to prepare nonlinear optical lithium triborate monocrystals, and grow large-size crystals having diameter of 65-70 mm and length of not more than 40-45 mm and high optical quality without inclusions and which are useful for manufacturing optical elements. The claimed method comprises stretching crystal from melt solution containing, as solvent, system consisting of LiCO3-LiBO2-Li2MoO4 and simultaneously decreasing melt solution temperature. Solvent comprises, mol. %: Li2MoO4, 30-50; LiBO2, 6-40; and Li2CO3, 10-40. This makes it possible to attain concentration of lithium triborate in melt solution during crystal growth by more than 30 vol %. EFFECT: more efficient crystal growth method.
