FIELD: methods and devices for compaction of articles; hot isostatic pressing, for instance, of metal and intermetallic castings for closing of internal porosity and improvement of article mechanical characteristics. SUBSTANCE: method of article compaction under effect of pressure and high temperature includes filling of container containing article with first transmitting medium. The first transmitting medium is in the form of molten salt with high-temperature sufficient for compaction of article under pressure. Placement of container to the second pressure transmitting medium is effected so that pressure applied to the second medium is transmitted to the first medium. The second medium is used in the form of molten salt under pressure sufficient for compaction of article at high temperature. Two media are hydraulically communicated with each other so that the pressure applied to the second medium is directly transmitted to the first medium. The device for compaction of article under the effect of pressure and elevated temperature has two media-transmitting pressure, located in each other, in containers. Both media are in the form of molten salt. The device has appliance for building up in the second medium of pressure sufficient enough for compaction of article found in the first medium.
