FIELD: piping systems; shutting off flow transported via pipe line. SUBSTANCE: cock has body where straightway passage is provided with spherical plug connected with its rotation drive; ball cock is provided with sealing member fitted with hold-down device. Outer cylindrical and inner taper surfaces of each ring are engageable with respective surface of bore and seal. Hold-down member is made from elastic-deformation material. Its surface engageable with surface of seal is provided with projections of various forms: either one circular projection with torous surface changing into cylindrical surface on one side and into flat end surface on other side, or several circular projections with torous surfaces changing into taper surfaces on either side forming acute angle with axis of straightway passage with vertex directed towards plug, or one circular projection with taper surface changing into toroidal surface on either side which is engageable with taper surface forming acute angle with axis of straightway passage with vertex directed towards spherical plug. Surface of hold-down member directed to side opposite to spherical plug is taper or spherical in shape. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency and increased wear resistance of cock seal. 2 cl, 4 dwg
