FIELD: TV equipment. SUBSTANCE: video signal packing device uses storage (12,14) for storage of two image fields and delivery of fields separated by an interval of one frame. Image data from the respective fields of successive frames are subtracted (16) with formation of interfield differences. Interfield differences are accumulated (18) during the respective intervals of fields, and the sum is compared (20) with specified value. If the sum of interfield differences is less than this value, the last field is considered to be superfluous one and may be deleted. After the respective fields are deleted (21), video signal frames are composed from remaining fields (25). Types of fields (11) (for instance, even and odd) in the storage are determined, and access to stored fields is accomplished in such a way that data from even and odd fields are arranged in even- numbered and odd-numbered lines of composed frames, respectively. Flags ("reproduce first" (DT) and "reproduce twice" (DF) are linked with the composed frames, they contain data indicating the presence of cut out superfluous fields and which of the fields in composed frames is to be reproduced first. EFFECT: packing of video signal with elimination of superfluousness in video fields. 11 cl, 6 dwg
