FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: device is designed for electromagnetic braking and clutching of at least one supply reel installed on hollow shaft for rotation around shaft longitudinal axis. Cord-type article is wound off or on the reel when the latter is connected with drive hollow shaft. Device has carrier mounted on hollow shaft and rigidly connected with shaft and provided with several holders distributed radially over its circumference. At least one electrically excited coil is secured radially on carrier at a distance from hollow shaft by means of one holder. Device serves for braking and clutching of supply reels installed on hollow shaft of large outer diameter. EFFECT: effective braking and clutching of reels without slipping. 9 cl, 4 dwg
