FIELD: electrolytic inorganic syntheses. SUBSTANCE: electrolytic synthesis of γ--manganese dioxide is carried out in acidic manganese sulfate solutions on titanium anodes heated to 100-240 C, anode temperature being raised as thickness of manganese dioxide precipitate layer increases. In this case, electrolyte is not heated, its temperature is not specified and, depending on electrolyte circulation velocity, may vary from 15 C and higher. Product consists of γ-modification alone which is proven by X-ray technique. Specific power of zinc-manganese chemical power sources manufactured from this product reaches 100 W h/kg, which exceeds the same characteristic of commercial power source specimens. EFFECT: reduced power consumption in the preparation process and improved quality of product. 1 tbl
