FIELD: mechanical engineering; base members of internal combustion engines. SUBSTANCE: oil sump secured on cylinder block-and-crankcase unit has bottom and upper parts connected to each other. Bottom part is made of single layer thin sheet metal, and upper part is made of three layer "metal-plastic-metal" material. Direct rigid contact between sump parts can be eliminated by fitting vibration damping member in connecting joint. Sump parts can be connected either in split or non-split manner.
