FIELD: mechanical engineering; base parts of internal combustion engine. SUBSTANCE: oil sump secured on cylinder block-and-crankcase unit of internal combustion engine is made in form of thin-sheet through-shaped member consisting of bottom and connecting parts with plate type baffle placed in between. Baffle is made of noise-and-vibration damping material permeable to gas, for instance, of porous net material. Peripheral zones of baffle are made in form of flanges mating with surface of trough-shaped member. Flanges are used to secured baffle on trough.
