FIELD: underwater acoustics. SUBSTANCE: sound-carrying channel is formed in propagation medium with the aid of laser beam with hollow core. Surface of target is so heated by means of same laser beam modulated by known law that it creates acoustic signal hitting sound-carrying channel as result of scanning. Signal coming to acoustic converter is amplified and sent through processing unit to indicator. EFFECT: increased detection range and spatial resolution of target. 2 cl, 2 dwg
