FIELD: oil production industry. SUBSTANCE: this relates to oil recovery and operation of producing oil wells with use of subsurface pumping units. According to method, oil recovery is effected by means of subsurface pumping unit and sucker rod pump. Pumping-out is exercised by performing periodic cycles of suction and delivery. Operating modes of cycles are varied at increased oil leakage. This variation is made by reducing duration of suction and increasing duration of delivery. In this case, duration of entire cycle and power consumption remain unchanged. To maintain value of power consumption, drive of subsurface pumping unit is balanced. Application of aforesaid method reduces expenses due to less energy needed for oil recovery. EFFECT: higher efficiency.
