FIELD: brush production, namely, manufacture of corrugated pile of smooth spring wire for making metallic brushes. SUBSTANCE: automatic machine includes uncoiling unit, corrugating unit and drum for coiling corrugated wire. Lodgement of uncoiling unit for placing tore-like coils of smooth spring wire is changeable one, it is in the form of hollow truncated pyramid having ribs of rods rigidly joined with bases in the form of plates or discs. Corrugating unit includes two pairs of toothed rollers successively arranged in direction of wire feed and having different-module involute teeth. Rotation axes of one pair of rollers are mutually parallel; rotation axes of another pair are mutually crossed, preferably, by angle 90 deg. Each pair of rollers has mechanism for adjusting distance between roller axes. Drum for coiling corrugated wire includes boss mounted on shaft of rotation drive unit, spokes radially secured to boss and separate chutes mounted on spokes with possibility of radial motion. EFFECT: simplified design, enhanced operation reliability and efficiency, possibility of manufacturing controlled-geometry three-dimensional corrugations. 3 dwg
