FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: sectional single-point tool has holder with flexible part and insert built into the opening of the holder. The insert has polyhedral cutting part, tool shank, and a neck with flats between them. The number of flats corresponds to the number of edges of the polyhedral cutting part. After the tool shank has been built into the opening the axis of the insert becomes inclined to provide tool cutting edge angle and tool orthogonal clearance. Rotation of the insert around its axis until it engages one of the neck flats provides a minor back clearance. EFFECT: enhanced capacity. 2 cl, 4 dwg
