METHOD FOR FASTENING CUTTING INSERT IN BUILTUP CUTTER Russian patent published in 2001 - IPC

FIELD: metal cutting tools for cutting construction materials. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of placing cutting insert in seat of casing, arranging cutting insert together with casing in slot of holder, adjusting position of apex of cutting insert and fastening casing and cutting insert in holder by jamming. In order to increase reliability of cutter and efficiency of its adjustment due to enhanced reliability of basing and securing of cutting insert, casing has springy part with seat in the form of dovetail. Cutting insert is placed in casing by its wedge-shaped stem. At placing cutting insert in slot of holder stem is rested upon upper inclined plane of holder by means of inclined dents in upper portion of stem. Position of apex of cutting insert is adjusted due to moving inclined dents of stem of insert along inclined face of holder. Then wedge is arranged between lower side of holder window and lower inclined plane of holder for jamming casing and cutting insert by means of wedge.
