FIELD: metal cutting, namely cutting tools. SUBSTANCE: cutter includes holder, upper surface designed for engaging with screws of cutter holder and insert mounted in seat of carrier and having cutting portion and stem. In order to enhance reliability of insert mounting and to provide possibility for regulating its apex along height, cutter is provided with cover strip. Seat of carrier is in the form of groove with bottom inclined relative to supporting surface of carrier by angle equal to lead angle of cutter. Lateral side of seat embrace lateral surfaces of cover strip. Above mentioned upper surface is provided in cover strip; in its lower surface there is window with inclined lateral surfaces embracing stem. EFFECT: enhanced reliability of insert mounting. 2 dwg
