FIELD: nonferrous metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: invention, in particular, relates to producing vanadium from slags and other vanadium-containing materials. Vanadium is isolated according to lime-sulfuric acid technology. Method enables new refuse sludges from vanadium production to be involved into production process. To that end, strictly specified amount of limestone is added to refuse sludge taking into account content of sulfur in the latter. Oxidative firing of charge is carried out stepwise: first at 300 to 700 C, then from 700 to 800 C, and finally from 800 to 950 C. Low-acid leaching is carried out at solids to liquid ratio 1:(1.5-4) and also stepwise: first at pH 2.5-3.0 and 35- 65 C and the second and all following steps at pH 2.1-2.3.
