FIELD: power-plant engineering and transport. SUBSTANCE: engine has opposing cylinders with pistons joined through common rod; conversion mechanism is provided with flywheel mounted on shaft parallel to cylinder axis. Sinusoid-shaped duct is provided on external side of flywheel; common piston rod has diametrically opposite seats for balls of antifriction bearings mounted on one end in flywheel duct and on other end, in supporting guide placed in crankcase. Flywheel width is greater than length of piston working stroke in cylinder; seats on rod are spaced from pistons through distance greater than flywheel width; distance between rod and flywheel and between the former and supporting guide equals one fourth of antifriction bearing ball diameter. Supporting guide has duct in the form of straight trough whose length is greater that piston working stroke. EFFECT: improved capacity; reduced specific fuel consumption and emission of pollutants. 5 cl, 2 dwg
