FIELD: fast neutron detectors, realization of method of registration of hidden explosives and narcotics. SUBSTANCE: fast neutron detector includes fibrous module assembled from layers of polymer scintillating optical fibres laid in turn in two mutually perpendicular directions and electron-optical system recording optical radiation. Diameter of individual fibres is chosen from relation D D~L/2, L/2, where L is length of free path of recoil proton in material of fibre. Electron-optical recording system is manufactured in the form of position-sensitive photodetectors optically ganged with corresponding faces of parallelepiped. Length of layers of fibrous module in each direction equals size of proper face of this module. Electron-optical system of detector has local optical subsystems which make proper element of position-sensitive photodetector correspond to each fibre. EFFECT: improved operational characteristics of detector by determination of three coordinates of first interaction of neutron with material of fibres. 1 cl, 1 dwg
