FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: in a two-dimensional detector, between layers of mutually perpendicular polymer scintillating fibres made from spectrum-shifting material, there is a matrix converter screen with optical contact, where the said converter screen is in form of a cellular structure with light-reflecting walls and channels filled with transparent scintillator. Each fibre is connected to a photodetector directly or using optical fibre.

EFFECT: high efficiency of detecting ionising radiations of different types, wide energy range of detected radiations, high sensitivity of the surface of the detector.
